The Board
|
There are two main types of kneeboards, trick boards and slalom boards. Slalom boards have fairly flat bottoms and sharp rails. Some are even equipped with fins. Trick boards a fairly similar to slalom boards in that they also have thin sharp edges that are good for cutting into the wake. If you do alot of surface spins you should use a board with rounded edges. Even though the trick board is obviously better for doing tricks, the slalom boards can still be used for doing tricks as long as they don't have fins.

The Rope
|
The rope that you use should be between 45 - 50 feet long if you are a beginner to advanced kneeboarder. If you are doing extreme tricks, such as layouts, you should use a rope that is 60 feet long. The longer the line is, the bigger the wake. There are many kinds and types of ropes out there but generally any good ski rope will do. A rope that I would suggest using, for doing tricks, would be one that can twist easily, to allow for spins and flips.

The Boat
Speeds
When thinking about what boat to use for kneeboarding, think about the wake. A good size wake for kneeboarding is about 12 inches high. But I think, the bigger the better. The bigger the wake the more height you can get. The boat that I have to use is 27 feet long, and it throws up a monster wake. It takes very little effort to get height.
